2/23 - standardized tests
I found an article on Yahoo about the value of standardized tests and the fact the some schools are now teaching to the test. I thought it was kind of interesting so I thought I would share the link to the article. Are we teaching these students how to get through the hoops to finish school or are we teaching them how to think and eventually become productive members of society?

I would disagree (no surprise there!) with even their qualified statement: "It all depends on the test and the teacher. If the test measures the skills students are expected to be learning and teachers prepare students by teaching those skills, then teaching to the test is a good thing." I would argue that we need to teach our students, not the test.
